Cues for social movements on Twitter: I collaborated with Dan Mercea from City University in a research about how social movements cue their actions and targets on Twitter. The result is a very interesting paper about different moments of their echoing of social movement actions, including aspects of their language, performativity, and critical engagement. I have interviewed a few activists who have opened more about their practices, in which they describe precise actions they adopt to boost a certain cause or topic, how they do it, and how they see Twitter for that purpose. We draw on a previous study by Mercea on Twitter dyads centred at the People’s Assembly in London. I must post the link once it is available on the International Journal of Communication (IJoC). Radical women’s art in the 1980s in the US & UK: I review for The Body two exhibitions that were happening at the same time at the ICA in London and the Red Bull Art Gallery, in Chelsea, New York City: Gretchen Bender and Kathy Acker. I engage with the work by these two rebel pioneers, in which they discuss topics like the saturation of media, the hijacking of literature for subversive purposes, and their existence beyond the feminist narrative. I argue that Acker’s art as closer the language of television ,as far as Bender’s, while directly working with TV, is more interested in a critical appropriation of the infra-structure of media production.

Advancing the new book: Research finished and now it is time to write-up. I expect it out by 2Q 2020. In this new book, I focus on the universe of men who use their bodies to communicate on the Internet. I have interviewed far more than 100 individuals over the last four years. I expect this book can fulfil a gap in the exploration of the discourse of men who use the Internet to express themselves sexually, but whom are often reduced as pornographers or deviant people. As far as my attention is more to their relationship with loneliness and representational practices, I also try to understand their narratives according to what they say about themselves and why they are naked online.
